AGAPE EVANGELICAL CHURCH: ITS NATURE AND LOGO
The Agape Evangelical Church is a Christian denomination in Ghana. It is a group of believers who have experienced the love of God through the preaching of the gospel. The Greek word “agape” simply means “God’s love”. It is God demonstrating His love towards sinful men in their sinful state (Romans 5:8). It is God coming to the level of humankind in order to save them. This is the kind of love God has shown us “How great is the love the Father has lavished on use John 3:1 NIV).This is the kind of love Jesus has for the creation.
The word “Evangelical” comes from the Greek “euangelion” which simply means “Gospel or Good News”. In the I e century, Martin Luther and his followers, who stressed justification by faith in Jesus Christ, and based their faith on Scripture alone, were known as Evangelicals
Evangelicals, therefore, are the Christians and churches that stress the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ: By choosing the name Evangelical, the church affirms what the entire Bible teaches about God, Jesus Christ and His work of salvation. The Bible is seen as the infallible word of God which is a guide to faith and conduct. The fallen state of all humankind, and redemption only through grace alone, which is given through Christ, to which one must respond by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit. The need for a personal encounter with Christ in conversion in which one is born again, Sanctification and Priesthood of all believers.
The motto of the denomination was taken from 1 John 3:1 as follows “BEHOLD WHAT MANNER OFLOVE”.
